Chad’s Ambassador to the U.S., Her Excellency Kitoko Gata, Calls for Unity and Engagement of the Chadian Diaspora on the 64th Anniversary of Independence

On the occasion of Chad’s 64th Independence Day, the Chadian Ambassador to the United States delivered an inspiring and heartfelt speech, emphasizing the importance of unity and the critical role of the diaspora in the country’s development. Despite being physically absent due to her obligations in Minnesota, where she is representing Chad at a major agriculture forum, the Ambassador made sure to address her fellow citizens through a video conference, underscoring the significance she places on maintaining strong ties between Chadians, wherever they may be.

The Ambassador began her speech by expressing a “deep sense of gratitude to the Almighty Creator for allowing us to reach this historic milestone,” and offered a special thanks to the Head of State, His Excellency General Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, “for the continued trust he places in me to fulfill our exalted mission of repositioning Chad in the United States.” These words reflect not only a profound sense of appreciation but also the Ambassador’s ongoing commitment to her diplomatic mission.

The Ambassador’s speech was also marked by a heartfelt tribute to those who have contributed to the building of the Chadian nation. She highlighted the importance of collective efforts by stating, “The celebration of our independence is an opportunity to pay a vibrant tribute to all those who have contributed to the building of our nation, to friendly countries, and partner institutions that have supported our development.” This acknowledgment extends to Chadians committed to peace and progress, whom she praised for their contributions to a united and prosperous Chad.

The Ambassador took this opportunity to remind everyone of the challenges Chad has faced since its independence in 1960. “The path we have traveled since 1960 has not always been easy, but our resilience and determination have allowed us to overcome many trials.” These words resonate especially at a time when the country is striving toward a better future. She stressed the importance of remaining united and supportive to build this future together.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to improving the well-being of all Chadians, the Ambassador echoed President Déby’s words during his inaugural address: “70% of public spending will be dedicated to improving access to education, water, health, energy, and food sovereignty.” This statement is a direct invitation to the Chadian diaspora, especially entrepreneurs, to seize this opportunity to invest in their homeland.

The Ambassador announced the upcoming creation of the Chadian Chamber of Commerce in the United States, a project aimed at “strengthening economic ties between our diaspora and our homeland while contributing to its sustainable development.” This initiative illustrates the Embassy’s determination to encourage active participation of Chadians abroad in the national development process.

The speech concluded on a note of hope and unity: “Together, we can achieve the great changes we aspire to. Let us all be agents of this renewal, each at our level, to make Chad a country we can be proud of.” The Ambassador thanked her compatriots for their attention and wished everyone a joyful Independence Day, invoking divine blessings on Chad and solidarity among Chadians, whether in the United States or their homeland.

This speech, full of patriotism and determination, highlights the importance of the Chadian diaspora’s role in the country’s renewal and calls for collective engagement toward a prosperous and united future.
